Chirnside Park Warhammer 40k League - February 2025 - Entry

$20.00
A Warhammer 40k 10th edition league, based out of General Games Chirnside Park with fortnightly rounds over 12 weeks for new and experienced players!
We can accommodate as many players that want to join, with re-bracketed pairings and ongoing list resubmission (sounds more complicated than it is) allowing a varying set of rounds, and the rules adapting as GW inevitably rebalances the game.
Additionally, there will be an optional painting/hobby competition running alongside the gaming league, in which all participants are welcome (and encouraged) to enter!
Sam and Saacha at General Games Chirnside Park are the League Organizers (LOs), and they should be referred to for any queries about the structure or organization of the league, as well as any in-game rules questions not covered below.

Where:
While we encourage (and provide play space and terrain) people to play in-store at General Games Chirnside Park (where we also run miniature games, every Sunday), games can be played anywhere which suits the paired players, as long as results are reported back to the LOs!
Cost:
- $20 per player (all proceeds will go directly back into prizes)
- Sign up in-store
Rounds:
Rounds will be fortnightly, which should allow plenty of time to organize to play your opponent. Results should be reported directly to the store, either via Facebook message or in person.
In the event a time to play can’t be organized, a draw for the round will be the default entry. However if it is only one of the players which can’t be available, please get in touch with the LOs, and a concession may be made. With plenty of table space available throughout the week, and or our Sunday miniatures day, there should be plenty of opportunities to meet up to play each round.
Pairings:
The league will use a re-bracketed random system for pairings - that is, each round each player is randomly paired into someone with the same W/D/L history which they haven’t played before, with these brackets being redone each round. The finals will then be bracketed such that the top two players play for first and second, then third and fourth, and so on, regardless of if they’ve already played. Pairings will be made visible on the General Games Chirnside Miniatures Community Facebook page at the start of each fortnight.
Armies:
Players will have an army of no more than 1500pts each round. As this is a league players will choose a faction on signup which they will use for the duration, however lists may be changed between each round as long as a new list is submitted to LO's prior to pairings going out. Armies should follow all standard systems allowed within Warhammer 40,000 10th edition matched play, throughout the league.
- Models are expected to be WYSIWYG (conversions and kit bashes are encouraged, but please check with a LO prior to the league round regarding any major differences in footprint/size).
- Base sizes must be accurate (according to WTC standard), or have the accurate base size visible on a larger base.
- We encourage you to paint your models, but as this is designed to encourage flexibility and new players, we are changing the 10pts for being Battle Ready to be granted to any army with visible progress being made on it (see Battle Ready Progress below).
List Submission:
As this is an ongoing league, and the rules and balance of the game will be subject to change, players will select a faction to play at the start of the league, and will resubmit their lists at the beginning of each round, with any changes made due to the ongoing points increase, before pairings are known. This allows players to try different units, learn from games, and expand their experience across the game.
Lists are to be submitted via Facebook Message to the store by 2pm of the first Monday of each round. Pairings will only be made public after this time, and any lists not resubmitted will remain the same. Each player is expected to be able to show and explain their list to an opponent prior to each game.
Battle Ready Progress:
To encourage new and existing players to paint their minis, at the beginning of each round a Facebook post will be put up regarding painting progress - each player should comment under the post with a before/after picture(s) of their progress on their army that round. Each player that does will receive the 10 Battle Ready VP in their next round.
For the first round of the league, everyone gets the Battle Ready points - just getting the army to the table counts!
Players who already have fully painted armies aren’t required to do so to receive these points (but might as well post up some army pictures anyway, we all like looking at cool minis!).
Terrain:
While there is no standard terrain pack in use for this league, as the LOs want players to be able to make do with terrain anywhere they end up playing, a good recommendation for terrain is to emulate the WTC terrain pack. If using GW style terrain it is recommended to treat the ground floor walls as LOS blocking regardless of any other rules (such as Towering).
Missions:
Missions will be drawn from the Pariah Nexus Tournament Pack and revealed alongside pairings each round. For scoring the Tabletop Battles app is a handy tool to have around, especially if you don’t have a set of Pariah Nexus cards.
Best Painted/Hobby Award:
During the course league, bring your army into the store, we will take photos to be popped up onto Facebook, where there will be a vote for the best painted army of the league.
